Inspired by Guido Daniele, I developed the theme “create and destroy” by producing this sequence of hand paintings. Whilst the fish and jellyfish represent how hands can create beauty, the gun and coke can portray the idea of hands destroying it. In more depth, I purposely used watercolour to illustrate the fact that, although it took me 9 hours to create each one of them, it only took 2 minutes to wash away my art. In addition, I wanted to experiment with painting on a new base – hands – in order to incorporate the influence of the base in the final product. The shape of the hand changes the shape of the fish and gun, demonstrating that our hands have the potential of changing the environment we live in without us realizing.
